What We Do

Organized Debating

No matter the kind of debate, we provide a structured environment for members to engage in intellectual discourse and refine their arguments. BP, AP, WSDC, and other formats are welcome.

Public Dialogue

Lots of people have opinions, but few have the tools to express them. We provide a platform for members to share their ideas and engage in meaningful conversations on social, economic, and political issues.

Systemic Analysis

In a world of diverse perspectives, we equip members with the tools to analyze complex beliefs, recognize patterns, truths, and avoid biases and fallacies that prevent clear thinking and understanding.

Don't just take our word for it

Being in UNDS has challenged everything I thought I had overcome. The nerves, stage fright, debate pride , etc. As I continue to grow in the club I am besides myself with excitement to see how far it will take me

UNDS became a sort of home for me very quickly. The people are warm, so warm that your very first meeting becomes your first and best bonding experience. UNDS gives you the avenue to learn all the time, to connect, to experience, to feel, to fail, to survive, to conquer. I couldn't be happier.

I was attracted to UNDS when I heard the president of UNDS, speak as a judge in a debate competition. His confidence left me wanting to learn more. I am a better person today because of this. Even with an irregular school schedule, joining UNDS has made me a better person, and I'm proud to call myself a member.

UNDS made me believe that winning arguments and sounding intelligent is a skill that can be learnt. I like that I am now convenient consuming information on topics that are far from my interests. (It's still a hassle but I try). I love UNDS. And this might sound cliché, because of course I'll love the organization I belong to.

UNDS has helped in sharpening my communication and critical thinking skills. Through it, I have networked with extremely brilliant individuals who have mastered the art of articulating their thoughts effectively.

UNDS showed me the difference between talent and skill. I loved debating long before university, I would always perform in school debate's tournaments fueled solely by passion. I realize that debate is not only passion, but also about skill, and I'm grateful to UNDS for that opportunity to learn that.

Beyond the beauty of achievements in external tournaments and beautiful speaks is the steady and consistent trainings, and steady spar sessions which UNDS has provided which I'm entirely grateful for.

Joining UNDS in my first year felt like finding my people and that meant everything. What made me seem different elsewhere felt at home. It was one of the best decisions I made. The skills, confidence, and friendships you build will stay with you long after university.

The opportunities, to learn, to grow, and to realise that there is nuance even in the most "basic" of ideas. I've learnt to understand that no one is ever completely wrong, and that alone, has profoundly changed my view and interactions for the better
