What We Do

Organized Debating

No matter the kind of debate, we provide a structured environment for members to engage in intellectual discourse and refine their arguments. BP, AP, WSDC, and other formats are welcome.

Public Dialogue

Lots of people have opinions, but few have the tools to express them. We provide a platform for members to share their ideas and engage in meaningful conversations on social, economic, and political issues.

Systemic Analysis

In a world of diverse perspectives, we equip members with the tools to analyze complex beliefs, recognize patterns, truths, and avoid biases and fallacies that prevent clear thinking and understanding.

Don't just take our word for it

Being in UNDS has challenged everything I thought I had overcome. The nerves, stage fright, debate pride , etc. As I continue to grow in the club I am besides myself with excitement to see how far it will take me

UNDS became a sort of home for me very quickly. The people are warm, so warm that your very first meeting becomes your first and best bonding experience. UNDS gives you the avenue to learn all the time, to connect, to experience, to feel, to fail, to survive, to conquer. I couldn't be happier.

I was attracted to UNDS when I saw the then president of UNDS, speak as a judge in a debate competition. The way he spoke,....I was in awe. UNDS made me want to know more. It made me very aware that an empty vessel cannot pour. I am a better person today because of this. Though my encounter with them has been brief and irregular, due to disparity in school calendar among other reasons, I am always proud of being a member of UNDS.

I love UNDS. And this might sound cliché, because of course I'll love the organization I belong to. But UNDS made me believe that winning arguments and sounding intelligent is not inborn. It is indeed a skill. A skill that can be learnt. I like that I am now convenient consuming information on topics that are far from my interests. (It's still a hassle but I try.) I like that I became a part of this group of intelligent and amazing debaters.

UNDS has helped in sharpening my communication and critical thinking skills. Through it, I have networked with extremely brilliant individuals who have mastered the art of articulating their thoughts effectively.

UNDS helped me bridge the gap between talent and skill. I’ve always loved debating right from my early childhood days, I would always perform in school debate's tournaments fueled solely by passion. Coming in contact with UNDS I realized that there's a difference between talent and skill, and that debate was not just about passion, but also about skill. So I'm grateful to UNDS for that opportunity to build skills beyond talent and passion.

Beyond the beauty of achievements in external tournaments and beautiful speaks is the steady and consistent trainings, and steady spar sessions which UNDS has provided which I'm entirely grateful for.

When I joined UNDS in my first year, it felt like I had finally found my people. The things that made me seem ""different"" elsewhere were simply normal here, and that sense of belonging meant everything. Looking back, joining the Debate Society was one of the best decisions I made as a student. I would recommend it to any student looking for a place that fosters all-round growth. The skills, confidence, and friendships you build will stay with you long after university.

UNDS has been something. The opportunities, to learn, to grow, and to realise that to even the most "basic" of idea, that there is deeper meanings. I've learnt to understand that no one is ever completely wrong, and that alone, has profoundly changed my view and interactions for the better
